Our activities in semiconductors

The Liberec Region and ARR, together with TUL and companies, have been building semiconductors as a strategic focus area over the long term. This is not about one-off events, but about the gradual creation of a regional ecosystem.

Round table on the involvement of the Liberec Region in the semiconductor ecosystem (2025)

In November 2025, we organized the first round table in Lipo.ink dedicated to the involvement of the Liberec Region in the semiconductor ecosystem. Gathered around one table were:

• representatives of the Liberec Region and CzechInvest,

• representatives of the Technical University of Liberec and CXI,

• representatives of regional companies with potential for the semiconductor value chain,

• secondary technical schools,

• foreign partners from Germany and Taiwan.

We discussed:

• what capabilities the Liberec Region already has,

• how companies, TUL, and schools can respond in a targeted way to the needs of the semiconductor industry,

• what the possibilities are for cross-border cooperation, especially with Dresden,

• how the region can function as a supplier of technologies, services, and talent rather than becoming “a second Saxony.”

Outcomes of the round table:

• confirmation that the Liberec Region has real potential to become part of the European semiconductor value chain,

• identification of the main pillars: optics, advanced materials, process subsystems, automation, water treatment, and talent,

• interest from companies and TUL in further events, study visits, and projects,

• agreement on the need to create one central point of information, this microsite, and to further develop cooperation with cross-border partners.

We are now following up on this event through:

• preparing further meetings and smaller working groups,

• planning visits for foreign delegations to selected companies and to TUL,

• jointly collecting data and presenting the region’s activities, right here on this page.
